Jung Kook’s Sugar Toast from In the Soop

After seeing so many iconic and random clips from this program since I became an ARMY, I very recently started watching the series BTS: In the Soop. In this program, the BTS members all take a break from their usual busy lives and stay at a forest location away from the city.

Soop means “forest” in Korean, and while watching we get to see the members relax and stay at a beautiful house by the lake. All the members also get the chance to do the things they didn’t get to do before because they were too busy. One of these things include cooking.

So far, I got to see the members cook some really delicious food. From kimchi fried rice to a simple and sweet sugar toast recipe by our very own Jung Kook.

The sugar toast that Jung Kook made can be a quick sweet treat or something easy to make for breakfast. Since I made it a goal to learn how to cook more at home this year, I decided to try out this recipe and wanted to share how I made it.

Ingredients:

  • brioche bread
  • two eggs
  • cinnamon/sugar

step 1: gather your ingredients and crack eggs in bowl

Take out some brown sugar and place it in a mini bowl. As a bonus ingredient, I added cinnamon but if you don’t have it, that is okay!

Take out two eggs and crack them in a large bowl, be sure to separate the yolk!

step 2: whisk away!

Initially, I think Jung Kook wanted to make something else cause he was whisking the egg whites to make meringue, but it didn’t work out. I still whisked the egg whites just because he did it too, I’m not sure if it made much of a difference though!

step 3: cut bread in mini slices

Take out as many slices of brioche bread as you like and cut them in mini squares.

step 4: soak each slice in egg white mix

Taking each slice, make sure to coat it in the egg white mix and place it on the pan in med-high heat. You should hear a sizzle!

step 5: lower heat and make sure each slice is golden on both sides

To prevent each slice from sticking to the pan, lower the heat as needed and flip the slices until both sides are gold and crisp!

step 7: finish off with cinnamon/sugar on top of each toast!

Finally, we take our cinnamon/sugar mix and top that onto each slice. WOW! I’m sure it looks beautiful.

Our sweet Jung Kook made the toast for all the members, and Hobi especially loved it. This recipe is easy, simple, and delicious. I wonder if anyone else felt like making the food each member made? Let me know how your sugar toast came out, and if you want me to share more recipes!
